About This Project
This full yard transformation features new rain gardens in both the front and backyards, fruit trees woven throughout the design, and a low-growing native planting in the side yard. A winding stepping stone path, planted with creeping thyme, leads to the homeowner’s compost area, blending function with beauty. The front yard includes a stone seating bench, creating a welcoming space to relax and enjoy the view.
Seasonal blooms now fill the landscape — from blue wild indigo, columbine, and Jacob’s ladder in spring to purple prairie clover, rattlesnake master, meadow blazing star, and rose milkweed in summer, and zigzag goldenrod, big-leaved aster, and orange coneflower in fall. A year after installation, the gardens are bursting with life — a thriving habitat alive with native bees and other pollinators.
